Dalia Cabrera is a patient advocate with Umbra Health Advocacy who specializes in health insurance and billing problems. Dalia Cabrera’s story
“For 17 years, I worked inside the health insurance industry. I started as a customer service representative and worked my way up to compliance manager for Medicare Advantage plans. I learned how insurance companies make their decisions, and I saw the system from the inside.
Over time, I felt a pull to do something more meaningful, to help the people the system is supposed to serve: the patients.
My turning point came in 2025. I watched the healthcare system fail someone I love. Delays and red tape kept getting in the way of his care, and they put his health at risk. That was the moment I decided to use everything I knew to fight for patients and families who face the same hard reality.”
