Meet Sania Saeed, PA-C

Sania Saeed PA

Sania Saeed is a board-certified physician assistant (PA) and an Umbra Health Advocacy patient advocate who works with clients nationwide. She has worked in gastroenterology, psychiatry, and disability medicine. Along the way, she learned how insurance companies make decisions, where medical records go wrong, and how to explain hard news in plain words.

Sania also speaks four languages: English, Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi. As a result, she can help South Asian clients and families who face language and cultural barriers on top of medical ones.

Why Sania Saeed Became a Patient Advocate

Since she was a child, Sania has loved two things: human biology and helping others. Becoming a PA brought both together. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biology magna cum laude from Notre Dame of Maryland University. Then she earned her Master of Science in Health Science from the University of Maryland.

At her PA school graduation, Sania received the Clinician’s Clinician Award. The honor still means a lot to her. It captured the kind of clinician she wanted to be: someone her peers would trust with their own loved ones.

In practice, Sania saw how often care stalled for reasons that had nothing to do with medicine. At a psychiatric clinic, she reviewed more than 20 charts and sent more than 20 prior authorization requests every day. She called insurers, pushed back on denials, and helped people get advanced mental health treatments such as TMS and Spravato.

Next, she performed independent medical exams for government disability benefits. She combed through complex medical histories and caught errors and gaps that could change whether someone qualified. Most recently, at a digestive care practice, she coordinated care across teams. She also helped people understand complex diagnoses in clear, simple language.

Through it all, Sania learned that healthcare is not just a maze of forms. It is emotional, too. She believes every person is more than a number or a diagnosis. Each one brings their own experiences, struggles, and wins. That belief led her to patient advocacy, where she can stand beside clients with warmth, patience, and persistence so they feel less alone.
