Barbara Gaynor, RN, LNC, BCPA, is a registered nurse and patient advocate with Umbra Health Advocacy. She has more than 25 years of nursing experience across hospitals, long-term care, home health, hospice, and case management. Barbara supports patients and families as they navigate the healthcare system and make confident, informed decisions. She is also a Legal Nurse Consultant (LNC) and assists with legal cases related to medical records.

Barbara Gaynor’s story

“I have seen the healthcare system from almost every side. I have worked inside it as a nurse for more than 25 years. I have been a caregiver for my mother and for my adult children. And at times, I have been the patient myself.

Those experiences taught me how hard it can be to manage your own healthcare, or the care of someone you love. The system is complex, and it is easy to feel lost in it.

That is why I became a patient advocate. My job is to help you understand your options, ask the right questions, and feel confident making decisions for yourself and your family.”
