Manny Hill is a Board-Certified Patient Advocate with Umbra Health Advocacy who specializes in complex and rare diseases, including cancer and genetic conditions. She brings a rare combination of deep technical training and real healthcare system leadership to families who are facing some of the most overwhelming moments in care.
Manny Hill’s background
Manny holds a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Michigan, with a focus on biochemical cancer biology and healthcare systems engineering. As a result, she understands disease at the molecular and clinical level, and she also sees how care delivery, diagnostics, and insurance processes connect and where they most often break down.
After her graduate work, Manny completed an administrative fellowship at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. She then spent more than a decade at Texas Children’s Hospital and Texas Children’s Health Plan, working across hospital operations and Medicaid insurance. Over those years she partnered with large, multidisciplinary care teams to reduce barriers to care and keep care moving smoothly across hospital, clinic, and insurance settings.
That mix of deep science and deep operations is unusual. Because Manny understands both how a disease behaves and how a healthcare system behaves, she can spot the gaps a typical advocate might miss.
