Meet Gina White, PharmD, BCPA

Gina White

Gina White, PharmD, BCMTMS, BCPA, CSSBB, FACHE, is a consultant pharmacist, healthcare navigator, and patient advocate with Umbra Health Advocacy. She brings more than twenty years of experience across clinical pharmacy, healthcare administration, and care coordination to the families she serves. Her focus is medication safety and complex medical decisions, and she helps clients understand not only what to take, but why.

Most patient advocates come to this work from nursing or care management. Gina comes to it from the pharmacy, and that background shapes everything she does. She has spent her career close to the medications people rely on every day, so she knows how quickly a regimen can turn risky when no one is watching the whole picture. Over the years she moved from clinical pharmacy into healthcare leadership, and then into direct advocacy. Each role added to how she sees a client’s care. Her work is also informed by her own experience advocating for loved ones, which is why she pays such close attention to the human side of every medical decision.

How Gina White helps clients

Through Umbra, Gina supports clients and caregivers in several ways:

  • Medication review and risk assessment. She examines a client’s full regimen for dosing problems, drug interactions, duplicate prescriptions, and allergy risks, so small errors do not turn into serious harm.
  • Medication management. She makes sure clients and caregivers know how to take each medication correctly and understand what every prescription is meant to do.
  • Decision support for new diagnoses. She helps clients weigh treatment options against their own values, beliefs, and long-term goals, especially when a diagnosis is new or complex.
  • Pain management support. She helps clients and families understand their options and keeps a close eye on high-risk prescriptions.
  • End-of-life care. She guides families through serious illness and end-of-life decisions with clarity and compassion.
  • Pharmacy bill review and resolution. She reviews pharmacy charges, finds errors, and works to resolve billing problems.
  • Care navigation. She helps clients manage provider communication, medical records, insurance appeals, and access to the care they need.
  • In-person advocacy. She attends medical appointments and supports clients in the home, and she also works with clients virtually.
  • Collaboration with providers. With a client’s consent, she works directly with physicians and care teams to raise concerns, suggest medication adjustments, and watch for high-risk prescriptions.

Gina White’s specialty: medication safety and pharmacy expertise

Gina White’s deepest expertise is medication. As a Doctor of Pharmacy and a Board Certified Medication Therapy Management Specialist, she reads a medication list the way few advocates can. She spots the interaction that got missed, the dose that no longer fits, and the prescription that quietly duplicates another. For older adults and people with chronic or complex conditions, who often manage long medication lists from several different doctors, this kind of review can prevent a hospital visit.

Her credentials also reflect years of work inside the healthcare system itself. She is a Board Certified Patient Advocate (BCPA), a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), and a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB). That mix means she understands medications, how healthcare organizations run, and how to fix the broken processes that so often stand between clients and good care.
