Meet Amanda DiGiovanni, OTD, BCPA

Amanda DiGiovanni, OTD, BCPA

Amanda DiGiovanni, OTD, BCPA, is a patient advocate with Umbra Health Advocacy and a Doctor of Occupational Therapy with more than 25 years of experience. She is also a Certified Aging in Place Specialist and holds an Executive Certification in Home Modifications, so she can set up a home to work for someone with disabilities or to keep an older adult safe at home. She supports individuals, families, caregivers, and children as they navigate healthcare, insurance, and care coordination.

Amanda DiGiovanni’s story

“I grew up in a large, multigenerational family, so caring for others came naturally to me. It became part of who I am. Early on, I saw how easily people can fall through the cracks, even within my own family. I also saw how the right support can change the whole course of a person’s care.

Those experiences shaped what I believe. Good advocacy is not a luxury. It is how people get care that is timely, fair, and compassionate. For more than 25 years, that belief has guided my work as an occupational therapist, an entrepreneur, an executive, and now a Board Certified Patient Advocate.

I step in when healthcare becomes overwhelming, confusing, or hard to reach. My job is to make sure my clients feel supported, informed, and in control, no matter how complex their needs are.”

Amanda DiGiovanni’s areas of expertise

Amanda’s deepest expertise falls in three areas.

Senior care and aging in place is a core focus. She helps older adults move safely through hospital, rehab, and home transitions. She can also look at a person’s home and recommend changes that make it safer and easier to live in. That might mean helping someone with a disability set up a space that truly works for them, or helping an older adult stay in their own home instead of moving to a facility.

She is also highly experienced with insurance appeals and denials. When coverage is denied, Amanda guides clients through the appeals process, and she has a strong record of overturning denials and securing the coverage families are owed.

Her third area is pediatric and family advocacy. Amanda supports families who are navigating both the healthcare and education systems. That work includes coordinating care, finding the right resources, and helping parents prepare for IEP meetings.
